Ottawa Senators NHL Trade Rumors: Will Curtis Lazar Request for a Trade?

Earlier this week, Ottawa Senators forward Curtis Lazar became the subject of trade rumors after he was scratched from the lineup for a fourth consecutive game. He did play against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday and he is once again in the lineup for the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs this Saturday. However, his future with the team may be decided this weekend.

TSN's Darren Dreger has reported that Lazar's agent, J. P. Barry, is going to meet with Senators general manager Pierre Dorion this weekend to discuss the forward's future, and Dreger said that he wouldn't be surprised if Lazar asks for a trade.

Hockey columnist Bruce Garrioch said teams have already called Dorion and they were told that the Senators want a first or second-round draft pick for Lazar. Well, many people have already labeled him as a bust, but it seems the Senators still think he has a high trade value.

Dreger was on TSN 1200 recently and he also said that the team was looking for a high pick in return for the forward. He also noted that the Senators would probably get another disappointing prospect in exchange for Lazar.

In an interview with the Ottawa Sun, Lazar confirmed that his agent was going to be around to have a chat with Dorion and look for a solution to his current predicament.

"It's nothing against the Ottawa Senators. I love playing here," he said during the same interview. "My main focus here lately has been just about trying to get back in the lineup. I haven't thought about anything like that. You guys can make out of it what you want, but for myself, it's a day at a time. I haven't talked to (Barry) in some time, so it's just to sit down with him and talk about myself and what it's going to take me succeed. I am an Ottawa Senator, I want to be an Ottawa Senator," he continued.

Lazar is saying all the right things, but he clearly wants to play consistently. Will he ask for a trade?
