'Outlander' Season 2 News: Production To Go On Until New Year, Maeve Foley Casting Rumors Not True

"Outlander," the original time-travel historical drama series on the Starz network is still undergoing production for its upcoming second season, which will go on until after the New Year, according to a report in CarterMatt. The series has yet to get a premiere date but the report cited that it may start airing by March or April 2016. Original cast members Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are set to reprise the main characters in the series. Recently, rumors that model and dancer Maeve Foley has been casted to play the role of Brianna, the second daughter of Claire Randall (Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Heughan), were put to rest by the show's executive producer Maril Davis.

In the second season, viewers will find Claire and Jamie resettled in Paris in order to continue the fight against the Jacobites, who want to bring back King James VII to the British throne. It follows the events of season one, which ended with Claire revealing to Jamie that she is pregnant with his child. According to Realty Today, the second season, which will run for at least 13 episodes, is based on the Diana Gabaldon's second book in the "Outlander" novel series entitled "Dragonfly in Amber."

Through a question and answer session via Twitter as reported in CarterMatt, Davis revealed that the show was now filming episodes 9 and 10 and is three episodes away from completing the 13-episode production. The report also noted that adapting the novel "Dragonfly in Amber" was challenging. Gabaldon, who has not been involved in writing any of the scripts for the first season, is also set to write a script for one episode in the second season, Davis hinted. Scotland will be the show's production base for the rest of the season, the report added.
