'Outlander' Season 2 News: 'Outlander' Set Hit By Storm Henry; Diana Gabaldon A Fan Of Sam Heughan
Storm Henry is battering the set of American-British time travel romance/drama "Outlander," Scotland Now reports.
The series, which is currently filming the last block of its highly-anticipated second season in Scotland, has been at the mercy of a series of storms that have hit the country in recent weeks. Storms Frank and Gertrude have now been followed by Storm Henry, which has brought 90mph winds and flooding throughout the country.
"Outlander" executive producer and writer Matthew B. Roberts reports that the storm is "playing havoc" with the "Outlander" shoot. On Monday, Feb. 1, Roberts tweeted: "Another storm (Henry) hitting @Outlander_Starz today Playing havoc with filming. #MotherNature, be kind #Outlander fans are waiting for S2."

The "Outlander" boss also posted a video clip of one of the Scottish flags on set as it struggled against the strong winds. Fans should keep their fingers crossed that the storms do not delay production on the Starz series' second season, which will see Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) hobnobbing with French society and attempting to put a stop to the Jacobite rebellion and the Battle of Culloden.
Meanwhile, Diana Gabaldon, the author of the best-selling series of novels on which "Outlander" is based, has nothing but praise for Heughan's work on the show. In an interview with The Scottish Sun, Gabaldon said, "I don't think anyone could've watched the final scenes of the first season and failed to appreciate his wonderful performance."
According to the writer, Heughan is "fantastic" and is a "chameleonic" actor. "You get the John Wayne type actors – no matter what they're doing, it's John Wayne," she said. "That's not what Sam does at all."
Gabaldon also said that it should only be a matter of time before Heughan wins an award for his work on "Outlander," but admits that, with the series only having had one season, it may take a while.
"The leading man categories have an immense number of really, really talented actors and all of them more established than we are at the moment," she said.
The second season of "Outlander" premieres in April on Starz.
