'Outlander' season 2 plot news: Jamie and Claire's relationship will strengthen

With second season of "Outlander" soon approaching, details about the upcoming season were revealed by cast of the show.

Scottish star Sam Heughan shared what his character, Jamie Fraser, will be dealing with in season 4. In an interview with Blastr, he shared that his character will still be caught up in the incident that happened last season, concerning Black Jack, played by Tobias Mezies.

Since they have arrived at the French Court, the actor said that his character will get involved in the politics, but will not be too impacted by it. He said, "We see Jamie and Claire slowly getting better at playing the game and learn they can undercut people and be quite political themselves."

He also added that his character's relationship with Claire, played by Caitrona Balfe, will become stronger as they continue to change history. However, it will not be easy. Claire will seemingly deal with her pregnancy by herself, while Jamie focuses on his own missions. Nevertheless, the couple will continue supporting each other.

Executive Producer Ron Moore also shared details about the plot during the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. He warned that the upcoming season will have surprises that even fans of the book will not expect.

The second season will be based on the novel "Dragonfly in Amber." It features a complicated plot with multiple time jumps. It takes place during the 1960s and contains flashbacks, as well. However, Moore explained that the upcoming season will go a bit differently than what is stated in the novel.

Author of Outlander Diana Gavaldon has been pressured by producers of the show to continue the books. She said to Vulture, "I am writing nine now, but I am not that far into it yet. It was a busy year so it has been harder to write. Normally it takes me about three years to write one of the big books. I can't write to order, so there are zero guarantees here, and it also depends on how many distracting things I have to do in between. I am aiming for 2017."
