'Outlander' Season 3 Spoilers: What to Expect After Jamie and Claire Reunion
When "Outlander" season 3 returns this week, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are officially back in each other's arms.
In the upcoming episode titled "Creme de Menthe," fans will get to see the two as a couple once again as they brave new challenges that will come their way.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts teased what "Outlander" season 3, episode 7 will have to offer as he talked about the inspiration behind the monumental reunion:
Without giving away too much, as the book did so well, Jamie and Claire get back together and they find a tentative footing in their relationship. We took a breath in this episode to say let's not throw any obstacles at them. The only obstacles thrown at them is themselves, them getting to know each other again. Episode seven and going forward is, as always, the world against Claire and Jamie. All the obstacles you can throw at them, we do.
Indeed, the first ordeal that hits the star-crossed lovers in "Outlander" season 3, episode 7 involves their safety. The synopsis reads:
Claire follows her conscience as a surgeon despite the risks to her and Jamie's lives; Jamie tries to evade the reach of the Crown as its representative closes in on his illegal dealings.
Despite the focus being on Jamie and Claire's reuniting, the previous episode of "Outlander" season 3 also marked the arrival of Young Ian (John Bell).
Roberts explained that they had to make his and Claire's first meeting "special" since he will be a very important character this season.
John Bell brings a likeability to the character. It was important to build that chemistry because of what happens going forward in the season. If there was no spark and no light there, then the whole drive for the second half of the season gets watered down.
"Outlander" season 3, episode 7, "Creme de Menthe," airs Sunday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
