OVERKILL's The Walking Dead for PC, Xbox One and PS4 Release Date Still to Be Confirmed

"OVERKILL's The Walking Dead" is coming to game consoles and PC in 2016 – this is the recent announcement of Starbreeze Studios, an independent creator, publisher and distributor for computer video games. The game was originally announced for PC only, but Starbreeze Studios recently signed an agreement with 505 Games to publish the games for consoles.

The independent group is working with Skybound Entertainment, the group behind "The Walking Dead" series, particularly creator Robert Kirkman to make sure that the game will have its "own set of characters and stories." The game is said to be a cooperative first-person shooter survival game.

OVERKILL - Starbreeze is known for its work with Payday 2 and according to a report in PC Gamer, they will also be responsible for the comic book tie-in.

In its official website about the upcoming game, Starbreeze AB's CEO Bo Andersson Klint said, "We will bring 'The Walking Dead' into the world of first-person shooter co-op games. It will be gameplay focused, ferocious and bring chaos to the traditional industry model. This time it's big – don't walk alone."

The game's description according to the game's official site is "'OVERKILL's The Walking Dead' is a co-op first person shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth, that invites players to explore the hugely popular 'The Walking Dead' universe where they will play the role of survivors fending for themselves in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating walkers."

In another report in IGN, Robert Kirkman had said that the game will be much like "Payday," but set in a bigger world. "Payday" features cooperative first-person shooter gameplay, and uses the Diesel game engine. "OVERKILL's The Walking Dead" will also make use of the same game engine.

The game is being developed for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and PC. A release date has yet to be confirmed also. Based on the game's website, the game will be set in Washington.
