'Overwatch' News: Jeff Kaplan on Bad Behavior and Blizzard on the Free Weekend

Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, "Overwatch" has amassed quite the following since it was first released early last year. It has garnered the positive attention of the gaming community and has won awards for being the best game of the year in 2016. It was also awarded the Teen Choice for Choice Video Game category.

However, recent reports reveal that game director Jeff Kaplan has a few words to say about those who attempt to mar the experience that "Overwatch" has to offer.

"The community needs to take a deep look inwards, and consider: I'm playing this game because I want to have fun, and the other people, the other team, they want to have fun as well," Kaplan said, as reported by PC Gamer. "The bad behavior is making the game progress, in terms of development, at a much slower pace."

Kaplan's statement came after some of the fans noticed that the developers were working hard to address the issues related to bad behavior instead of rolling out updates and improvements for "Overwatch." Kaplan explained that this was because he and the rest of Blizzard Entertainment are focusing their energy on cleaning the game of players who seem to be intent on destroying the experience for others. The reporting system has led them to make a disciplinary action for an estimated 480,000 players.

On a much lighter note, the developers of "Overwatch" announced a surprise for its fans as well as for the rest of the gaming community. With reporting systems in place and the developers ever vigilant of bad behavior, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that "Overwatch" will have free weekends for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The event will have the full character roster and maps available for play through the Quick Play mode, Custom Games, and Arcade mode. The "Overwatch" free weekend is set to be held on Sept. 22 to Sept. 25.
