Panasonic Eluga L2 Specs, Release Date: New Midrange Android Smartphones Hit Indian Market

India is considered to be the second largest smartphone market in the world, and it is not a secret that both local and imported brands are trying their best to get a share of the market pie in the country.

Panasonic, a world-renowned leader in consumer electronics and appliances, has officially joined the Android competition in India as it recently launched three smartphones.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the Japan-based manufacturer unleashed the Eluga L2, Eluga I2, and the Eluga T45, which all run on Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, we'll just focus on the highest end model for now.

The Panasonic Eluga L2 has pretty decent specs for a midranger and reportedly costs around INR 9,990 or around $222. So what would someone get with a price like that?

Based on the report, the device will boast a 5.5-inch display, though the resolution is still not confirmed, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and an unnamed Snapdragon chipset. The device also boasts of 8GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot for expansion. However, the Eluga L2 only has 1GB of RAM.

Other specs include an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front shooter to take care of selfies and video calls. The phone supports dual-SIM connectivity with 4G LTE speeds. The Android-powered handset is powered by a good-sized 2,500mAh battery although that could be a problem if the smartphone packs 1080p of screen resolution.

With a price tag like this, it is unclear whether Panasonic would be able to succeed in a lucrative Indian market that features very affordable Android devices which offer more features, better specs, and surprisingly durable designs.

Some of the more popular brands in the Android smartphone niche include Korean maker Samsung, local brand Micromax, and Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi, OnePlus, Lenovo and Meizu.
