'Paragon' News, Updates: Ice-manipulating Aurora Joins the Roster on Jan. 31

Multiplayer online battle arena games have a lot of competition in the market, and one way to stay ahead is to always have something new in store for players. This is exactly what folks behind Epic Games' "Paragon" are doing, and as such a new icy hero arrives Tuesday next week.

An announce trailer introduces the newest addition to "Paragon's" growing roster, Aurora. She is a melee hero that manipulates ice and freezes foes to avoid being overwhelmed by hordes, taking advantage while her enemies are immobile. If Elsa from "Frozen" and Shiva from "Final Fantasy" are merged together to join "Paragon," Aurora definitely is a close depiction.

Her unique abilities are further illustrated on the game's official website. Frozen Simulacrum allows her to move in a targeted direction while leaving an ice clone of herself, which can be tactically used to move around freely and create decoys to distract opponents. Glacial Charge is both an offensive and defensive skill, as she lunges forward with an icy trail while damaging enemies in her way. This also blocks projectiles and pushes back enemies, making her invulnerable.

She has two more skills which deal with a wide range of enemies. Hoarfrost freezes foes around Aurora, which damages and immobilizes them. This can be used to either overwhelm enemies with consecutive attacks or a way to escape stronger foes. Cryoseism is an interesting move, as she creates an icy earthquake that turns affected opposing heroes to ice and then explodes, dealing damage. Other foes caught in the explosion will experience the same, creating a domino effect.

Aurora is the latest hero to be introduced to the world of "Paragon" as part of the title's promise to create new characters every three weeks. With Serath being the last hero to arrive prior to Aurora, it will be interesting to see what strategies players will come up with.
