'PaRappa the Rapper 2' Release Date: Sequel Rolls Out to PS4 Next Week

"PaRappa the Rapper 2," a rhythm game developed by Japanese studio NanaOn-Sha, is coming to the PlayStation 4 next week.

Sony revealed on its latest PlayStation Blogcast that the game will be available for PS4 owners to play with starting Tuesday, Dec. 15, reports Gematsu. "PaRappa the Rapper 2" comes to the PS4 thanks to Sony's PS2 emulation.

"PaRappa the Rapper 2" was teased in the announcement trailer (below) that Sony released during the PlayStation Experience 2015 featuring PS2 games on PS4. In addition, Sony also teased more games coming to the PS4 including "Fantavision," "Twisted Metal: Black," "Rogue Galaxy," "War of the Monsters," "Dark Cloud," "The Mark of Kri," and "Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits." Three "Grand Theft Auto" games, "Grand Theft Auto XII," "Grand Theft Auto Vice City," 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," were also teased toward the end of the video.

According to the video, the PS2 emulation provides 1,080p renders and full trophy support. PS Plus members can also invite their friends to play.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" previously came out with a bundle including "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter," "Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter," and "Star Wars Racer: Revenge," all classic PS2 titles. These games were first discovered to run on an emulation software by Digital Foundry. The emulation software works basically by copying the computing environment of the PS2 on the PS4 so games of the former can run on the latter.

"PaRappa the Rapper 2" is the sequel to the original game created by NanaOn-Sha and Masaya Matsuura. The game's main character is PaRappa, a rapping puppy. In this title, he and his friends will go on a mission that involves preventing everything from turning into noodles. The game introduces new characters and new tunes composed by Matsuura, as well as special appearances by Lammy and the MilkCans and sensei Chop Chop Master Onion.
