'World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor' Patch Adds Flying Mounts (VIDEO)
Blizzard Entertainment plans to release a patch to add flying mounts to "World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor," but only after players complete a game checklist.
"World of Warcraft" Warlords of Draenor" will soon be getting Patch 6.2 which will allow flying mounts in the game; however, it comes with a catch.
After Blizzard Entertainment reversed last year's decision not to allow flying mounts in the fifth expansion of "WoW," the "Warlords of Draenor," the developer decided to introduce an upcoming patch that includes the flying feature.
Unlike in previous expansion packs where hitting the level cap and paying for training was all players needed to take to the air, Patch 6.2 will give players a rylak mount only if they meet certain requirements.
Among these accomplishments include exploring all the regions of Draenor, discovering at least 100 treasures, completing all Draenor quest achievements and bonus objectives, and earning "Revered" with three Tanaan Jungle reputations, including Hand of the Prophet, The Saberstalkers Order of the Awakened, and Vol'jin's Headhunters.
Players of the massively multiplayer role playing game will have to earn a Draenor Pathfinder accomplishment to get their own rylak, and they won't be able to take to the skies with their level 90+ characters until the patch arrives.
While Blizzard earlier decided against adding flight, the huge volume of complaints from its tens of thousands of players caused the developer to reconsider its decision, while still maintaining the importance of ground exploration as a key part of "WoW."
The list of achievements a player must accomplish in order to attain flight will strike the perfect balance in ensuring ground-based content is experienced fully, the game's lead designer Ion Hazzikostas said in a "WoW" blog post.
Patch 6.2 will also introduce new activities, including a series of weekend events, a Hellfire Citadel raid, and a new questing zone.
The patch is currently live on the Public Test Realm, and no official release date has yet been announced.
