Sheen continued in his statement, "I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent. Patrice had that rare 'light' around him and inside of him."

"My tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family," he added.

O'Neal was 41 and died due to complications suffered from a stroke he had last month, TMZ reported.

"We don't know how he is. We don't know how he's going to be,” comedian Jim Norton said on a radio show, revealing his friend's condition.

“I didn't want to do this by myself. I wish we had more news for you," Norton stated.

His friend Opie wrote on Twitter, "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD. #devastated."

The comedian was a staple on the "Opie and Anthony" show, adding commentary and his own humor on subjects. He also made many appearances on the "Office," "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," and the "Chappelle Show."

He had his own XM Radio show called "The Black Philip Show" which was in reference of the "Dr. Phil Show."
