Paula Abdul to Judge 'So You Think You Can Dance' Finalists

Paula Abdul will return to the judge's chair for the upcoming episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" in a move that fans say should have been made much, much sooner.

Abdul, who has judged on several of Fox's competitive shows including "American Idol" and "The X Factor," will guest-judge the show on Tuesday.

"Only kidding, it's not the great singer/composer Paul Anka. It's the girl I've waited ten seasons for @PaulaAbdul is joining us on #SYTYCD," Nigel Lythgoe, one of the judges on the show, posted on Twitter.

Abdul will judge the remaining 18 finalists alongside guest judge Erin Andrews. Those left standing include Jasmine Mason, Alan Bersten and Mariah Spears.

Before becoming a pop star and then a judge on the hit television shows, she had an extremely successful choreography career, including work on several Hollywood films and as a choreographer for Janet Jackson.

Paula Abdul, the "X-Factor" judge, was let for season two, following reports that producer Simon Cowell refused to renew their contracts after failed ratings.

Cowell had been less than impressed with the U.S. version of the "X-Factor's" ratings after it failed to match that of "American Idol," and sources suspect that he is implementing drastic changes in a bid to boost viewership, according to BBC.

"I had a big bottom lip at the end of last year. It was a tough year, but it wasn't a horrible year. I just realize you have to do things better and not feel sorry for yourself," Cowell said, hinting that change was inevitable.
