Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem Name New Baby Girl: Luna Encinas Cruz
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have reportedly found a name for their new baby girl: Luna Encinas Cruz. The baby was born several weeks ago, and Luna means "moon" in Spanish.
Penelope Cruz's new daughter's names all have significance. Encinas, which is Bardem's surname, means "live oak," according to Daily Mail, while Cruz is added on as the actress' last name. Luna Encinas Cruz was born July 22 at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, Spain, according to Spanish magazine Vanitatis.
A week after the child's birth, Bardem visited the Madrid central registrar office Tuesday to register Luna.
Though little Luna has been around for several weeks, her Hollywood star parents, Bardem and Cruz, have not yet publically confirmed her existence. The actors are famously private about their personal lives, as evidenced by their other child, Leonardo, who is now 2-and-a-half years old.
"I want my son -- and my kids if I have more -- to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible," Cruz told Vogue in 2011 about her growing family. "The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy."
Recently Cruz has also made her directorial debut along with her sister Monica for Agent Provocateur. The campaign's aim is to sell the lingerie line that Cruz helped design, and the commercial so far has attracted attention and controversy for its scantily-clad models.
"The campaign film was very personal and important for me," Cruz says in a press release. "It was the first time that I directed and it was a very interesting experience. They gave me all the freedom and I was able to tell the story that I wanted to tell."
