'Person of Interest' Season 5 News, Cast, Spoilers: Season 5 Will Have 'Fillers;' All Excitement
Many await the return of "Person of Interest" season 5, especially with what has happened in the season 4 finale. One of the biggest cliff-hangers that many want to see answered is the current situation of The Machine. The show had a panel during the New York Comic-Con 2015 and took the chance of dropping some teasers about what awaits fans in the series' return.
According to IGN, executive producer Greg Plageman was the one who cleared the issue of the day about the Machine. He shared, "It's not kicking out numbers right away, that's for sure." He goes to add that the situation of the Machine is currently a mystery, "The thing about the Machine right now is we're not sure if it has a heartbeat and even if it does, if we have a chance to resuscitate it." Plageman further added that the exciting tone at the end of season 4 will continue on to the next season, and that "there won't be any filler."
Furthermore, Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) will be dealing with more personal problems concerning the Machine. It's said that his attachment to this may cause further conflicts especially with what the machine is intended to become. Plageman said, "He's been trying to keep [their relationship] a non-personal one. It's a tool that he can use for good, which he doesn't have strong feelings about, which we see bleeding through all this parental passion and care because the Machine is approaching a kind of personhood. It's the most important entity in Mr. Finch's life." Apparently, Finch will be going through self-evaluation about his actions.
Another person focused on the Machine would also be John Reese (Jim Caviezel). Although the death of Carter has significantly shaken Reese's life, it is confirmed that he will still be focused, as much as he can, on the machine. Caviezel shared that he will approach Reese and convince him to "use the tools he has as a black operator to help bring the team together." It seems that he will help Finch keep it together, as apparently he will be the one to "go to Finch to say, 'We can do this. I've done much more with a lot less.'"
