'Persona 5' Release Date News: Delayed Despite Introduction of Characters

With a release schedule initially set for this year, fans have been looking forward to what "Persona 5" has to offer, but due to reasons that have yet to be detailed by the publishers, the game just might not be around anytime in 2015.

What made players and watchers get nervous was the fact that Atlus didn't introduce the game in E3 2015. However, Atlus PR Manager John Hardin said during the event that the game was planned for a release this year. Months later, there is still no news about the game's coming.

Multiple outlets have declared in the past months that the game is now slated for a 2016 summer release for PS3 and PS4. The sad news for American players is that the outlets noted that the game will only be available to the North Americas after the Japanese delayed launch.

In a statement, the developers clarified that they have been forced to delay the game's previously announced release due to reasons involving the development, including some areas of the story line that would supposedly improve and add more life to different world settings. Some technical issues were also mentioned in the statement.

The game will feature Ryuji Sakamoto, a 16-year-old student who transferred to Shujin High School and is known among other students as a troublemaker and fistfight starter. He will be sporting the persona of "Captain Kidd," a skull-headed pirate.

Among the other characters who have been introduced include Ann Takamaki, a half-American, half-Spanish second year student who is a loner. While she is outgoing and seems not to know much about the activities that other teens her age are usually indulged in, she won't have many people to call friends. She will personify "Carmen," a lady in a bright red dress and a panther mask.

Other characters who will be featured in the game are Morgana, a shape-shifting creature who will take on the persona of "Zorro," and Yusuke Kitagawa, the orphaned boy who will take on "Goemon" as his persona.
