'Persona 5' Release Date, News: Caroline and Justine Do the 'Good Cop Bad Cop' Routine
"Persona 5" has been first released in Japan last September 2016 and it continues to take the country by storm. Aside from the deep plot and the gameplay, some of the minor characters within the Velvet Room may have added to the game's appeal, which is revealed in the latest clip.
In the newest teaser for the title, players are introduced to Caroline and Justine, who appear to act like wardens of the Velvet Room, a place between dreams and reality. The two seem to portray the "good cop bad cop" routine but not to squeeze out information, but to encourage the protagonist to do his best, given he has special traits that allow him command of different personas.
During the cutscene, it can be recalled that the protagonist has dialogues with them, which could lead to speculating that they may be part of how social links are influenced in the game, increasing his affinities with various personas. If anything, the two add personality to the already alive world of "Persona 5."
This wasn't the first time though that the two appeared. Western audiences are re-introduced to the Velvet Room in a separate trailer, where Igor employs the help of both Caroline and Justine to aid the protagonist in his progress.
It is in this realm where the player gets to create new and more powerful personas through a rather atrocious ritual — by allowing Caroline and Justine kill the existing ones and fuse them together to form a new one. This is, however, better than the player pointing an evoker to his head.
The game's plot revolves around a silent, reserved high school student who transfers to another school and discovers his hidden abilities along with his other peers. Together, they must use their power to change hearts while dealing with social responsibilities.
"Persona 5" arrives worldwide on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on April 4, 2017.
