Philadelphia Eagles LT Jason Peters, LB Jordan Hicks Out for the Season Due to Injuries

The Philadelphia Eagles will have to make do without Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters and veteran middle linebacker Jordan Hicks for the remainder of the season.

The team has confirmed that both players are done for the year after they suffered season-ending injuries in Monday night's 34–24 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Peters sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in the third quarter of the game after Redskins defensive lineman Ziggy Hood fell on his right leg. It was a nasty injury and Eagles trainers had to bring out an air cast to immobilize his leg before he was carted off the field.

Hicks ruptured his right Achilles' tendon on the second play of the game and it was clear that he was hurt badly since he couldn't place any weight on his right leg. After being evaluated on the sideline, the third-year pro was carted off into the locker room and he was ruled out for the rest of the game.

The National Football Conference (NFC) leading Eagles will sorely miss the services of Peters and Hicks, but it's a "next man up" business and the players behind them will have to carry the load moving forward.

"One of the things I've talked about and hopefully you guys have seen it with the team and talking to the players is it's definitely the next man up and they rally around the guys that are hurt and support them but at the same time the bigger picture is we still have a lot of football left and we still have a game this Sunday and the season's not over," Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said on Tuesday, via the team's official website.

"Lot of confidence in all the guys, great group of leaders on the team and they'll be ready to go," he added.
