Philadelphia Eagles News: Injury reports affecting Eagles' roster
Kiko Alonso has not played since December 2013.
The wait to see Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Kristian Alonso may be extended as he recently revealed that he is still being bothered by his leg during pregame warm-ups in the NFL preseason.
Nicknamed "Kiko", he has missed all of last season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee, but he stated that it isn't the same issue that is bothering him at the moment.
Despite feeling the pain, Alonso believes that he is just being extra careful on how he accommodates himself on the field – and is confident that he will make it on opening day.
Coach Chip Kelly also claimed that there is nothing serious about the problem and it is not his left knee that they are looking at, but he still does not have an answer whether Alonso will be ready to play in their final preseason game on Thursday.
"He's looked sharp in practice, but games and practice are a little bit different," the coach claimed.
"We'll see where he is. But we're hopeful to get him back out there [in games]."
Many feel that the Eagles have a complete team and with their first three games consisting of victories and a +65 point differential, having Alonso on board should help the team to carry that momentum when the regular season begins.
However, they still have other injury issues to attend to, one of which is Cody Parkey. The placekicker is placed on "day-to-day" as he is suffering from a groin injury. However, his place in the line-up when the season starts seems to be secured.
Lane Johnson should return after suffering a knock on his knee during Saturday's game, while wide receiver Riley Cooper sat out of practice also with a groin injury but it is said not to be serious.
Finally, Trey Burton who impressed in their Saturday win over the Green Bay Packers may sit out the final game of the preseason. Catching two touchdowns in the win, the tight end has been playing with a broken thumb.
