Philadelphia Eagles NFL Trade Rumors: Kenny Britt Reportedly Agrees to Sign With the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have been linked with practically every wide receiver on the free-agent market in the past few weeks, but it seems that they may have already found the right person for the job.
According to football analyst Benjamin Allbright, Kenny Britt is expected to sign with the Eagles when the free agency signing period starts today, Thursday, at 4 p.m. ET. A number of observers believe Britt will get a short-term, team-friendly deal from the Eagles.
Britt worked with current Eagles' receivers coach Mike Groh last season with the Los Angeles Rams, and according to ESPN's Tim McManus, "a reunion would likely be welcomed on both sides."
"In Britt, the Eagles would get a potential short-term fix at a dollar amount they could live with, and a player who may have some untapped potential given the lack of quality quarterback play he has been surrounded with to date," McManus said in his report earlier this week. "When you consider age and cost, Britt is one of the few on the higher end of the market who fits," he continued.
Britt was in Atlantic City earlier this week and he reportedly told people that he was signing with the Eagles. Britt's agent, Fadde Mikhail, did his best to shoot down the rumors by saying Britt was there to visit his family, but it didn't work and people knew something was up. Well, it sure sounds like Britt was mixing business with leisure during the trip.
Of course, Britt's signing isn't officially yet until he put his pen to paper, but it looks like the Eagles have managed to snag themselves a reliable wide receiver.
Aside from the Eagles, a handful of other teams were interested in Britt as well. Citing a source, ProFootballTalk has reported that the Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks were also pursuing the wide receiver.
