Philips Swift S616L Update & Specs: Phablet Spotted in China, To Feature 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP Camera

Amidst the tough competition in the smartphone industry, Dutch diversified technology company Philips is joining in the game by releasing their own handset models. Last month, they released two devices known as the S616 and V787. And now, they're busy gearing up to release another product which is a phablet dubbed as the Swift S616L.

According to Android Headlines, the said device is now listed, after being certified in September by Chinese regulator TENAA. It was seen last month sporting a massive screen size measuring 6.5-inches. It won't carry a QHD panel but it is said to have an IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720.

Phones Review detailed that under the hood, the device will carry a "slightly underwhelming processor" which is a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. This makes the Philips Swift S616L a mid-ranger phablet. But what's interestingly notable about it though is that the chipset is backed up by 2 GB of RAM. There's also an internal storage of 16 GB.

Another interesting thing about the device is that it is said to run with Android 4.4 KitKat. The two previous models, S616 and V787, run with Android 5.1 Lollipop. In terms of the camera, the device will feature 13-megapixel rear camera which comes along with an LED flash. The front will have a 5-megapixel camera.

WhatMobile cited that powering up the phablet will be a 3000 mAh removable battery. It's certain to do its job well since the product carries overall low-specs. It is also known to support dual-SIM connectivity and offer 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The overall dimensions of the upcoming device is not revealed yet but it is said to be 8.9 mm thick with a weight of 188 grams. The Swift S616L is listed on TaoBao with a price tag of 1,399 Yuan ($220) but it is not officially announced by Philips yet.
