Phoenix Suns NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Pistons Willing to Move Reggie Jackson to Acquire Eric Bledsoe

A new team has emerged as a potential landing spot for disgruntled Phoenix Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe.

The New York Times' Marc Stein has reported that the Detroit Pistons have expressed interest in acquiring Bledsoe and they are willing to part ways with starting guard Reggie Jackson. However, the Suns are not interested in a straight swap, and Stein said the deal would likely hinge on the additional assets the Pistons would include in their package for the Suns guard.

According to Basketball Insiders' Michael Scotto‏, the Suns have already turned down an offer involving Jackson and a first-round pick. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski‏ has reported that the Suns want to bring in a third team to take on Jackson, but Sports Illustrated's Jake Fischer has revealed that the deal was already "dead."

Fischer said the New Orleans Pelicans would have been the third team in the deal.

"Phoenix would have received Detroit's 2019 first-round pick, New Orleans' 2018 first-round pick, Alexis Ajinca and Omer Asik," Fischer wrote in his report.

"The deal would have landed Jackson in New Orleans, adding more shooting and playmaking on the perimeter and finally freeing the Pelicans of two large contracts the team has persistently tried to shed. New Orleans has long been in pursuit of Jackson, as the team made a series of intel calls regarding the point guard before last February's trade deadline," he added.

Well, absorbing Alexis Ajinça and Ömer Aşık's contracts doesn't really sound appealing, so the Suns' unwillingness to pull the trigger shouldn't come as a surprise. Still, the Suns could have received two future first-round draft picks in that deal.

In any case, the Suns are clearly not in a hurry to trade Bledsoe and they are willing to wait until they receive an offer they like. That much should be clear by now.
