Pia Zadora Arrested for Domestic Battery, Coercion
Pia Zadora was arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery and coercion after a disturbance at her home in Las Vegas. Zadora, 61, has been married to her third husband, Las Vegas Police Detective Michael Jeffries, since 2005, but police did not reveal whether he was the victim.
Zadora was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where she posted $4,000 bail and was released, reports state. She spent only a few hours at the Detention Center but will have to go before a judge in order to deal with the charges brought against her.
Zadora spent her entire life in the entertainment industry, first working as a child actress on Broadway, the moving on to films. Her big break came in 1964, when she was cast as the youngest sister in "Fiddler on the Roof," a role she held for two years. Then, also in 1964, she starred in the film, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."
She won a Golden Globe for "Best New Star of the Year" for her role in "Butterfly," which also featured Stacy Keach and Orson Welles. In 1988, she took on a lesser role in "Hairspray," which went on to become a hit film and Broadway show.
Zadora attempted to stage a comeback in 2011, with a cabaret show titled "Pia Zadora: Back Again, and Standing Tall." It ran for five performances and Zadora moved on to making more personal appearances for charities.
Her personal life has been just as tumultuous as her career; Zadora first married a man nearly double her age when she was just 23. The marriage lasted from 1977 to 1993, and Zadora then moved on to a new relationship with Jonathan Kaufer. They were married for six years before she married Jeffries in 2005.
Zadora and Jeffries met after she called to report a stalking incident, and the two have been together ever since.
She has three children: Kady Zadora, Kristofer Barzie, and Jordan Maxwell.
