'Pikmin 4' confirmed to arrive soon, launching on Wii U?
There's a good news for everyone who has loved the real-time strategy video game "Pikmin." Its fourth installment is expected to make its debut soon. According to Kotaku, Nintendo head designer Shigeru Miyamoto announced that "Pikmin 4" is not only under development but also "close to completion" already. Miyamoto exclusively confirmed it to Eurogamer during an interview. However, no further details were revealed as it appears like the team prefers the game to be kept under the wraps until official launching.
"We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present," said Miyamoto. With that being said, the platform that the game will be available to is still unknown. But the choices to where it may be released include the Wii U, the 3DS or Nintendo's next console, the NX. Speculations are rising and among the three, the biggest bet goes to the existing Wii U console instead of the new one, reports Tech Times.
This is based on the fact that "Pikmin 3" launched on the Nintendo Wii U and its sequel may join the same platform. And even though the Nintendo Wii U may be particularly older compared to the new Xbox One or PS4 consoles, the platform can still hold its own.
Whichever platform Miyamoto and his team decides on, fans can expect for the franchise to be as fun as the original "Pikmin" which was launched back in 2001, as well as its sequels, "Pikmin 2," which arrived in 2004, and "Pikmin 3," which launched in August 2013, giving a nine-year gap from the previous one. The series has been popular for its mixture of time-management and strategy tactics among players. They will need to lead an army of tiny plant creatures to help repair the ship of the space explorer named Captain Olimar.
