Pippa Middleton Endurance to Be Tested by Bike Ride Across the US

Following in the steps of her brothers-in-law, Pippa Middleton will soon be coming to the U.S. However, it will not be for a party or wedding, it will be for charity. Middleton is taking part in the Race Across America with a team riding on behalf of the charity Michael Matthews, the youngest Brit to make the summit to Everest.

Middleton will be joined by her brother James and their friend James Matthews, Michael's brother. Michael perished in 1999 while descending Everest. He was the youngest Briton on record to make the ascent, doing so at age 22. Now the Middleton family and James will all ride together to raise funds for a charity in Michael's honor. The three will ride a total of 3,000 miles across the U.S.

The younger Middleton sister has been training for the grueling trek from Oceanside, Calif. to Annapolis, Md. She is no novice to cycling, even writing an article for the Daily Telegraph about her trips riding off-road in the countryside of Bucklebury. Middleton has also experienced a number of unique endurance tests that pushed her to the limit.

She previously skied in Switzerland's Engadin Marathon, which is an endurance skiing race lasting 56 miles. She competed with her brother James and finished 412 out of 15,800 racers. During that race, she and James skied to raise money for the Magic Breakfast charity, which provides breakfast to inner-city children in the United Kingdom.

Middleton then competed in the Highland Cross Challenge, a grueling race consisting of a 20-mile run and 30-mile cycle. She finished in the top 15 female racers, out of a total of 160 female competitors.

"It was one of the toughest things I have done," she told the Daily Mail. "I don't know if I will do it again but I am really pleased to have finished."

She is very athletic and enjoys participating in raising funds for charity. Thankfully, her work allows her the time to train and compete.
