'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' News: Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann Dead?

For the past months, rumors about "Dead Men Tell No Tales" have been revolving around Johnny Depp — his absence in filming due to marriage issues being a huge hindrance to the movie's development. However, new rumors have redirected fans toward Keira Knightley.

The two-time Oscar nominee has revealed earlier that she is not appearing in any more of the movies in the "Pirates" franchise as she is working on various different projects. She is also prepping for a titular lead role in her Broadway debut.

Knightley has since been mum about the fifth installment in the franchise, and with the entry of Kaya Scodelario, fans have speculated that Knightley's Elizabeth Swann could be dead. Rumor has it that the feisty pirate girl's death will most probably be disclosed in the upcoming film.

The rumor only created more fire when it was revealed that Swann and Will Turner's (Orlando Bloom) son Henry, all grown up, will be the newcomer to join the jolly sailor boat's team. Brenton Thwaites will play the role. Henry will be on the search for his father, Will, who took over the curse of Davy Jones and is now the captain of The Flying Dutchman.

Meanwhile, some of the fans that loved Knightley's character seem to be having a hard time accepting their beloved Ms. Swann's absence from the movie and sent fire and brimstone to Scodelario, who will be playing Carina Smith, an astronomer and academian.

Scodelario immediately took to the stage and explained that her character is in no way replacing the great love of Turner. Although she did not discuss any details about a possible love interest, she said in an interview with Digital Spy that her Ms. Smith is "on her own journey — looking for the trident Poseidon...and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way." She added that the famed captain "messes everything up. As he does. And it's fun!"

The 23-year-old's statements then gave some fans a hint that instead of Turner, Carina just might have a budding romance with the mighty Jack Sparrow in the fifth movie.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" comes to theaters on July 2017.
