'Pitch Perfect 2' Honors A Cappella Once More
After "Pitch Perfect" received tremendous support and incredible following and grossing over $113 million in worldwide box office, producers were quick to sit down and talk about a sequel. "Pitch Perfect 2" is a sequel to the phenomenal hit 2012 film, 'Pitch Perfect,' which was adapted from the non-fiction book of Mickey Rapkin titled "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory."
The second instalment of the series will follow the Barden Bellas as they compete in a worldwide competition, which no American group has ever won before. The move to compete is the group's way of regaining their status and their right to perform. The film will follow the group as the group is kicked out of the collegiate a cappella league after a humiliating wardrobe malfunction while performing in front of President Barack Obama.
In a Yahoo interview Banks shared some of the film's plot and overall theme. "The girls are now graduating and figuring out how to sort of leave the nest ad the comfort of each other's friendship and figure out what they're going to do with the rest of their lives."

When asked about the musical influences, the director stresses the influence of a cappella in the movie.
"It's all about the authenticity in the a capella world. We really want to honor that and honor the people who are really doing it out there who we're inspired by when we make the movie," he said. Banks also confirmed that respected a cappella groups Filharmonic, Pentatonix, and Penn Masala would appear in the movie.
During the CinemaCon, co-star Elizabeth Banks, who is also the film's director and producer, reassured theatre owners that the second instalment would have the same elements of what made the first film a hit. There are still the a cappella rip-offs and the hit song, "Cups," which was included in the Billboard Hot 100 Charts.
'Pitch Perfect 2' is a musical comedy that stars Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson, who confirmed last April 11, 2015 that she would return for a third film.
