'Pitch Perfect 3' News: Elizabeth Banks to Direct Once Again
The upcoming installment of the popular franchise "Pitch Perfect" is expected to see the return of Elizabeth Banks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Banks will be involved in "Pitch Perfect 3." She will be taking on the director's seat for the upcoming film, as well as producing it with her husband named Max Handelman.
It was reported that Banks' first directing project was the previous installment of the franchise. She recently spoke about her experience as a female director. She explained what is was like working in an industry that is dominated by males.
She said, "You know it's a really small list of women who get to direct I wanted to use more of myself and my abilities and have more control over the stories I was telling. Parity in Hollywood is going to require that those in power share a little of that power. So it requires a real partnership with the men in our industry."
She also added the "Pitch Perfect" has been a great opportunity because the industry does not usually allot a big budget for women directors.
Before the release of "Pitch Perfect 2," she already hinted at the chance of another installment. According to Collider, she said, "It would be disingenuous to say that no one's talking about a Pitch Perfect 3; the possibility of it."
With that, it was already confirmed that there will be another film for the franchise. Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson are expected to reprise their roles for "Pitch Perfect 3." While Banks did not share much detail about the upcoming film, it was reported that Kay Cannon will be working on the script.
Nevertheless, fans are looking forward to the return of the popular franchise.
"Pitch Perfect 3" is expected to air by July 21, 2017.
