'Pitch Perfect 3' News: Film Moved Back to Original Release Date
Following the announcement that "Pitch Perfect 3" has been moved two weeks later from its initial release date, Universal Pictures has decided to move the sequel back to its original launch on July 21, 2017.
Last year, the film giant said the movie will be bumped to an August 4 release. Many fans were disappointed, especially since there were no other details given or no explanation was offered regarding the decision.
On Monday, Universal gave fans a whole new reason to rejoice as the third film has been pushed two weeks earlier, back to its original slot.
According to Deadline, the new date allows PP3 to sit next to 20th Century Fox's "Ferdinand" as well as Warner Bros.' "Dunkirk" and EuropaCorp's "Valerian." The new schedule allotted for the million-dollar franchise has also placed it just three weeks from another giant franchise from Universal: "Despicable Me 3," which will be out on June 30, 2017.
It is unclear if all the original stars will reunite for the second sequel but according to Collider, both Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have been confirmed to reprise their roles. The outlet also notes that director Elizabeth Banks, who also starred in the second installment, said she is considering which actors and actresses will make cameo roles.
In the previous film, Katey Sagal, Snoop Dogg, Claw Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, Robin Roberts of "Good Morning America," and Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix made big appearances.
While there is also no word regarding the plot of PP3, some are expecting to see more of Hailee Steinfeld's Emily, whose entry to the Barden Bellas gave viewers a breath of fresh air.
Finally, there's the yet-to-be-continued story of Wilson's Fat Amy and Bumper (Adam DeVine). Many fans felt the undeniable chemistry between the two and it is speculated that their love story will be much deeper in the upcoming motion picture.
The previous movies also starred Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Christie Fit, Skylar Astin, Ester Dean and Anna Camp.
