'Pitch Perfect 3' Premiere Date, Rumors & Update: Arrives in 2017, Anna Kendrick & Other Cast Reprise Roles
The Barden Bellas are set to return to the big screen soon as "Pitch Perfect 3" has been confirmed already for a 2017 release. According to Refinery29, the movie has been rescheduled by Universal Pictures to premiere on Aug.4, 2017. It was initially set to return to theaters on July 21, 2017 but Parent Herald said that it has now been moved to a new date due to the delay of production for "Pacific Rim 2."
It will also be the comeback of Anna Kendrick who plays the main character Beca, as well as Rebel Wilson, the hilarious Fat Amy, and Elizabeth Banks, who played the commentator Gail and the director of the second installment in the franchise. Ryan Seacrest reported that the three were the first to return. Other stars who are said to reprise their roles in the movie include Hailee Steinfield, who first appeared in the second movie as the freshman Emily Junk, and Brittany Snow as Chloe.
Playbill Club noted that Kay Cannon will also be back to pen the third installment after successfully writing both "Pitch Perfect 1" and "Pitch Perfect 2." She will be working once again with Banks who has been confirmed already to direct as well as co-produce the movie.
Since there are no details yet regarding the plot, fans are now wondering if any of the other choir groups are also going to appear once again in number three flick. If there's one choir group that fans would love to see again, it's the German techno group Das Sound Machine. They were known in the second movie to be the Bellas' biggest rival. The choir's breakout star Peter Krämer told Perez Hilton that he has high hopes that Das Sound Machine will return to "Pitch Perfect 3."
But one thing is for sure, the upcoming sequel is aiming to come up with something bigger for the third time. As Banks said to EW, "We are hard at work on figuring out what the next chapter for the Barden Bellas is going to be. They're gonna sing, they're gonna dance, and they're gonna be funny…I don't want to give anything away!"
