'Pitch Perfect 3' Release Date, Cast News: Rebel Wilson Says Filming Begins Mid-2016; Adam DeVine Reprising Role?

"Pitch Perfect 3," which is scheduled to hit movie theaters in summer 2017, will soon begin filming, one of its stars, Australian-born actress Rebel Wilson, has confirmed.

Speaking to Parade, the 35-year-old comedienne, who played the role of Fat Amy in the first two "Pitch Perfect" films and is known for her scene-stealing performances in "Bridesmaids" (2011) and "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" (2014), confirmed that there is, indeed, a third "Pitch Perfect" movie in her future.

"We're filming that in the middle of 2016," she revealed. "It's crazy that our little musical theater lovefest turned into a huge franchise."

In 2015, Wilson and her "Pitch Perfect" co-stars Anna Kendrick (Beca Mitchell) and Brittany Snow (Chloe Beale) confirmed that they will be reprising their respective roles for the third installment of the hit musical comedy film. In October, Variety reported that Elizabeth Banks, who helmed "Pitch Perfect 2" and has played commentator Gail Abernathy-McKadden in the two "Pitch Perfect" films, will return to direct the third installment.

In addition, one of "Pitch Perfect" fans' favorite Treblemakers may also be returning for the third film. At DailyMail.com's People's Choice Awards after-party in January, Adam DeVine (Bumper Allen) revealed to the People's Choice blog that he had been asked to reprise his role for "Pitch Perfect 3," saying, "They've asked if I would be willing and I'm like, 'Probably— just ask me though!'"

"I just want to feel like a pretty girl at prom, you know? I want to be invited to the dance, for Pete's sake!" he teased.

According to E! News, Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two installments in the musical comedy franchise, will also pen the script for the third film. Banks' husband, Max Hendelman, will serve as producer for "Pitch Perfect 3," as he did for the first two films.

"Pitch Perfect 3" is set to hit cinemas on Aug. 4, 2017.
