Planned Parenthood News: Centers to Stop Accepting Cash for Fetal Tissue Transactions

Cecile Richards has opted for a wise move amid all the fire thrown at her Planned Parenthood offices after a series of undercover videos were released in the past months, revealing that the organization's centers are harvesting fetal tissue for cash in exchange.

"Planned Parenthood's policies in fetal tissue donation already exceeded the legal requirements. Now we're going further in order to take away any basis for attacking Planned Parenthood to advance anti-abortion political agenda," Richards wrote, referring to the new policy.

According to The Christian Broadcasting Network, Richards addressed the letter to the director of the National Institute of Health Francis Collins, stating that the offices in California and Washington that make up about six of the 700 health centers under Planned Parenthood will halt their fetal tissue transactions that were revealed in the videos.

Richards has previously insisted that the said transactions that include donations from various entities were only taking place in the two states mentioned. A claim that the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), the organization that released the videos, does not agree with.

The clips released by the CMP revealed that executives were taking in some cash for the harvesting of fetal body parts and tissues, an illegal move in the United States. Harvesting baby parts is legal in the United States only for research, but selling the baby parts acquired from aborting babies is considered an immortal sin.

The new policy is seen by Rep. Diane Black, author of the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 that has been passed by the House of Representatives, as a move for the benefit of Planned Parenthood, and one out of "conscience."

Black, who is also a registered nurse, said Richards and her crew should stop aborting "more than 327,000 innocent lives each year" and focus on "true" women's health rather than pen new policies that are only meant to divert people's attention from the real issue at hand.
