Player Agent Drew Rosenhaus Parts Ways With Johnny Manziel

When Johnny Manziel got Drew Rosenhaus on board, it was a step in the right direction for the troubled NFL quarterback who is hoping to have another chance of playing pro football this season. But just like his previous professional relationship, this one was again short-lived.

In an interview with ESPN, Rosenhaus confirmed that he already has informed the ex-Cleveland Browns QB about his decision. "I have terminated the standard representation with Johnny Manziel in the hopes of helping him get the treatment I believe he needs," the player agent said. He also gave Manziel the condition that if he takes the necessary steps to get treatment, then he will rescind the termination and represent him once again. If he doesn't agree that he needs treatment and won't get one, then the termination becomes permanent. "There is a five-day window for me to rescind the termination," he added.

The popular agent reiterated that his original agreement with Manziel already contained the stipulation that he enter a treatment program, but he hasn't shown any sign that he's willing to do it.

He went on to say a lot of things about the young quarterback, even reaching a point where he sounded utterly concerned about him. "This is a life-or-death situation… I'm talking about a young man who is in trouble," he said.

Rosenhaus came to Manziel's rescue when the latter's previous agent, Erik Burkhardt decided to bail out early this year when the quarterback started to party uncontrollably. It wasn't long when the Browns released him.

Manziel underwent several months of treatment in a facility last off-season, but the Browns or any of his representatives did not disclose as to the nature of the treatment. He did come back for the offseason training and workouts, but eventually things never settled down. An assault charge in January didn't help his case either.
