'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' News: Devs Talking to Sony Regarding a Possible PS4 Version

Possible PS4 version may only come out after Xbox One edition hits the market

To say that the success of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has caught the video game industry a bit off guard would be an understatement. After all, the massively popular game is still only playable on PC, though that should change soon enough.

First off, the battle royale-style game is already due out for the Xbox One. An exact date for its arrival on the Xbox One still has not been pinned down, but the release is expected to happen before the end of the year.

Now, it looks like the game may be getting yet another home in the not-too-distant future.

A recent article from Bloomberg that touches on the development and subsequent rise of the game just so happens to also contain a very interesting little nugget that is hinting at what might be the next big step for it after this year.

As stated in the article, the folks at Bluehole, the game's developer, have apparently been in talks with Sony, and these were not just exchanges of pleasantries either. Instead, the talks between the two have reportedly centered on the possibility of another version of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" making its way to the PlayStation 4.

No plan between Sony and Bluehole has apparently been set in stone just yet, but that the two sides are talking alone has to be pleasing news for PS4 owners who are hoping they can get to try out the game as well.

Notably, even if a PS4 version is coming out, players who prefer that platform may have to wait for quite a while since it may only be released after the Xbox One version is made available.

In all likelihood, developers are focused on polishing the PC and Xbox One versions at the moment too, so it is no sure thing that they have even started work on a PS4 edition.

The future looks bright for "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" and there is a chance that future also involves the PS4.
