'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' News: Game Creator Says Sequel Unlikely
Although "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," has yet to hit the store, many are already asking if there is a sequel to the game title. Recent reports have revealed that the possibility seems to be far off.
"PUBG" has amassed quite the following since it was released for early access. It has received a lot of positive reviews from critics and the full release is slotted for later this year, fans have continually been building the hype up for the unexpectedly popular game title.
"We're building this game as a service. We'll still have the boxed copy that you buy...we still want to polish and refine and add more maps, add more assets, and continually refine the gameplay and optimize as we go forward," said "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" creator Brendan Greene, in an interview with IGN.
Furthermore, Greene also said that the fans of "PUBG" can expect the game to rebuilt and restructured through patches, as developer Bluehole Studios continue to introduce new experiences and in-depth plotlines. Reports also pointed out that "PUBG" may be following the same path as "Minecraft," a game title that grew organically instead of introducing a sequel.
Considering the simplistic plot of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," which involves dropping a hundred people on an island and giving them the task of emerging as the sole survivor, the developers' decisions seem to be the best course of action.
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has yet to receive a specific release date, but fans are expecting it before the year ends for PC and Xbox One. Moreover, Greene has also said that a physical disc of the game will be available once it lands in stores. Otherwise, fans can purchase the full digital release of the game over at the respective websites of Xbox and Steam for PC. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
