PlayStation 5 news, specs: Developing stages already started?
In the world of technology, it's always about what's next. This, of course, includes the gaming world, where many are always concerned and looking forward to consoles that will heighten their gaming experience. Although Sony's PlayStation 4 (PS4) just recently announced that a 1-terabyte PlayStation will be available next month, many are already looking past this and focusing on what the Playstation 5 (PS5) can bring.
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, Sony is now focused on developing PS5. Although nothing is virtually or physically being built, the planning wheels are already turning. Sony recently released an ad that is looking for a "Senior Game Programmer," who is suspected to eventually be crucial in the building of the PS5 console. The job description goes, "We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Computer Entertainment of America (PlayStation). We seek a senior game programmer to assist us in developing a game used for R&D purposes related to our next generation gaming system. For someone passionate about gaming this is a very rare opportunity. After reviewing the below job profile, if this is you, please apply!"
From the job profile, it can be assumed that they are talking about the PS5 already since the PS4 has been already out for quite some time. If this is indeed true, then although it is already being planned now, it can still take quite a while for the new console to come out. Release date of the PS5 is thought to more likely happen in 2020, so whoever decided to purchase the PS4 now shouldn't worry about being outdated so quickly.
Furthermore, according to Tech Radar, this time would also give Sony an idea of how it should go about with the PS5. Since downloadable games are starting to take over, PS5 may be considered for streaming services. Ben Wilson, editor of PlayStation Magazine shared, "Steam on PC has taught us that disc drives are becoming less and less necessary, but I can't see them being phased out completely for a while yet. People love their boxed products, and 'experts' have been predicting the 'imminent' demise of the CD for more than 20 years. Remind me how that one has turned out? There will always be those who prefer special editions and sexy packaging to invisible downloads, and it's those guys and girls who'll ensure disc drives live on within gaming in some form."
