PlayStation 5 Release Date Rumors: Will Sony Launch PS5 at Paris Games Week 2017?

Sony is gunning for the Paris Games Week 2017 in a big way, with their showcase event starting on Monday, Oct. 30. Aside from the next wave of the biggest PlayStation titles, the company is also getting ready to dish out their biggest announcements for the console platform. Will the PlayStation 5 be among them?

The Paris Games Week has been one of the biggest events for Sony, with their panel time usually being taken up with their lively announcements for new titles for the console. This year, however, looks to be different based on their announcement posted on Friday, Oct. 27.

Sid Shuman, social media director for Sony PlayStation, laid out a good part of their schedule for the Paris event this week. Fans would note that their announcement shows that the company is already unveiling 21 game updates in their introductory live-stream, on top of seven new game reveals, with some of them for the PlayStation VR.

The company is fitting all of that in just the first hour. With almost 30 game updates in just the pre-panel event, what could Sony be saving up for their main Media Showcase?

There could be a few announcements that the company may have saved from the E3 2017, according to the International Business Times. This is a fact that Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony's worldwide studios, confirmed earlier.

"There are things we have held [back]," he said in an earlier statement. "We chose not to show those at E3 2017, but there will be some more news coming out from our teams later this year. No question," he went on to say.

With the recent launch of the Xbox One X, Sony could be planning to counter with an announcement of their next console upgrade, according to German website Golem via the Daily Star. Details remain hazy, however, aside from confirmation that the new console, referred to as the PlayStation 5 for now, "is coming."
