PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold Offer Free Games for December 2015

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting six downloadable games for free next month. Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold announced five titles that will be free for a limited time in December 2015.

Five Xbox Live Gold games available for free for limited time next month

Microsoft announced on Tuesday that five games will be available for free for a limited time to its Xbox Live Gold members.

First off, two titles will be available for one whole month on the Xbox One. These are "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing," which will be free for the entire month of December, and "Thief," which will be free from Dec. 16 to Jan. 15. "CastleStorm" will be available for the first half of the month, Dec. 1-15, on Xbox 360, while two games, "Sacred 3" and "Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising," will be available from Dec. 16 to Dec. 31 on Xbox 360.

Again, those are two games free on the Xbox One and three games free on the Xbox 360.

Before that, Xbox's Games with Gold program currently offer two games for free until the end of the month. "Pneuma: Breath of Life" is free for the Xbox One and "Dungeon Siege III" is free for the Xbox 360.

PlayStation Plus announces six free games for December 2015

A day after Microsoft's announcement, Sony also revealed in the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday that six games will be available for download free starting Tuesday, Dec. 1. These games are:

  • "Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" (PS4)
  • "King's Quest - Chapter 1: A Knight to Remember" (PS4)
  • "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" (PS3)
  • "Freedom Wars" (PS Vita)
  • "Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken" (PS Vita)
  • "SSX" (PS3)

This month, six other titles are free, including "The Walking Dead: Season 2" (PS4), "Magicka 2" (PS4), "Mass Effect 2" (PS3), "Beyond Good & Evil" (PS3), "Dragon Fin Soup" (PS4, PS Vita, PS3 cross-buy when available), and "Invizimals" (PS Vita). PS Plus subscribers can download these games without any charge until the end of the month.
