Pokemon Confirms Magearna as New Mythical Pokemon
The Pokemon Company has officially announced Magearna as a new Mythical Pokemon. The announcement confirms what was revealed last week through a Japanese gaming magazine.
Magearna is the 722nd Pokemon to be unveiled. The new Pokemon was introduced through the official Pokemon website on Valentine's Day. Before its official introduction, though, the new Pokemon was revealed last week in CoroCoro magazine as Magiana. Magearna is reportedly the localized or Western equivalent of the Japanese name.
It is classified as an Artificial Pokemon. In other words, it's a Pokemon that was created by human hands. However, unlike Mewtwo who is a clone Pokemon, Magearna was assembled with metals and given life by humans 500 years ago.
Based on its metallic body, fans believe Magearna could be at least partly Steel type. Others suggest Magearna could also be a Fairy-type Pokemon. However, Magearna's type or types remain to be seen as The Pokemon Company has yet to reveal this information.
Fans should soon learn about Magearna's type/s in future announcements or through the new Pokemon movie. Magearna will be introduced in a new feature-length film that is set to hit theaters later this year.
The new movie's title has been translated as "Volcanion and the Ingenious Magiana" or "Volcanion and the Exquisite Magiana." It continues Ash's adventures, this time joined by two Mythical Pokemons. Revealed in December 2015, Volcanion is a Mythical Pokemon that is the first to be both water and fire types. Together with Ash, Volcanion will go on a mission to rescue the stolen Magearna.
Here's an excerpt from the film's synopsis:
"Ash meets the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion when it crashes down from the sky, creating a cloud of dust — and a mysterious force binds the two of them together! Volcanion despises humans and tries to get away, but it's forced to drag Ash along as it continues its rescue mission. They arrive in a city of cogs and gears, where a corrupt minister has stolen the ultimate invention: the Artificial Pokémon Magearna ... He plans to use its mysterious power to take control of this mechanical kingdom!"
It's not clear yet if Magearna will also be playable in any of the existing or future Pokemon games. Hopefully, this question will be answered when the Pokemon Company announces more details about Magearna and the upcoming Pokemon movie in the future.
