'Pokémon Go' for Android and iOS: Players Looking Forward to Game's Availability After Limited Release in Some Countries; When Will It Be Available in Your Region? [DETAILS]
Eager Pokemon Masters Are Still Waiting for "Pokémon Go's" Release in Some Parts of the World
Gamers from New Zealand, Australia and the United States have started their journey as Pokemon Masters. However, fans in other countries where "Pokémon Go" hasn't been launched yet are eagerly anticipating their own local region release. So what seems to be the delaying the game from being released?
Massive Game Participation Means Overloaded Servers
With the initial release and the major influx of gamers downloading and playing the game, the "Pokémon Go" servers have been unable to keep up with the demand. Game developer Niantic Labs, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have agreed to delay the release in other countries, including potential major markets, so they can fix the issue first, Gadgets reported.
Business Insider wrote that although it is common for first-day launches of games to have technical difficulties, Niantic Labs was overwhelmed by the responses. CEO John Hanke told the outlet that "Pokémon Go" has become a phenomenon in just a day, and they are making thorough improvements to keep with the demands.
"Pokémon Go" Hack and VPN
Other Android players who are too excited to try out "Pokémon Go" have resorted to using a virtual private network (VPN) to download and play the game, Android Central wrote. Niantic has responded by putting region locks on countries where the game has not been officially launched. Downloading and installing the game via an APK file is potentially dangerous as it could infect a smartphone with malware. For Android users, the Play Store did not put up any APK mirror for the game.
Countries with Official "Pokémon Go" Games on Android and iOS
While the listing for the game is available worldwide, "Pokémon Go" is available to play on Android and iOS in the United States, New Zealand and Australia. According to Android Police, the download button for South America, Europe and Canada will be in place soon; however, there have been reports that some places in these countries are able to download the game already.
"Pokémon Go" is free to download, install and play, but it has in-app purchases. Tech Crunch reported that a wearable device costing $35 will be available for sale this month.
