'Pokémon Go' Latest News and Update: 'Pokémon Go' Plus Wearable Bluetooth Gadget Sold Out; Is It Worth Buying in the First Place?
"Pokémon Go" Plus Is an Add-On Device Designed to Make the Game "Hands-Free"
The "Pokémon Go" wearable Bluetooth device is sold out, but it can be bought on eBay for a ridiculous amount of money.
The "Pokémon Go" Plus wearable device can be pre-ordered for $35, but Nintendo announced that the Bluetooth gadget is sold out. The exclusive accessory has been listed as "Temporary Unavailable" at the Nintendo Store. Those who'd like to get their hands on one may do so, but in another online store.
"Pokémon Go" Plus Reselling at eBay
The Nintendo Store has officially listed the add-on accessory "Pokémon Go" Plus as a temporarily unavailable item. While some have despaired over the news, others may seem to have taken advantage of it by reselling their own via eBay for thrice the original amount or at least $200.
The exclusive wearable accessory is a wrist band that gamers can strap on theirselves and connect to their phones via Bluetooth. "Pokémon Go" Plus is an extension of the "Pokémon Go" because instead of having your smartphone out all the time, the device will provide a notification if a Pokémon is nearby, Forbes reported.
The "Pokémon Go" Plus will flash and vibrate to alert the player if there are viable Pokémon that can be caught. Players will then use the device to catch the Pokémon with a virtual Pokeball.
Is "Pokémon Go" Plus Necessary and Worth It in the First Place?
The "Pokémon Go" Plus is being marketed as something to help players focus "on the real world." This means that the device is meant to lessen distraction such as catching, breeding and training Pokemon, which can be time-consuming and which can get in the way of daily activities, Engadget noted. However, those who would only play "Pokémon Go" casually may opt not to have the wearable accessory, but hardcore Pokemon Masters may be too proud to use it. So this raises the question: Is it necessary?
The device only has one button and a signal light that will light blue or red depending on whether the Pokémon has been successfully captured or not. However, it doesn't tell what kind of Pokémon the player is interacting with, so this means players will still have to get their smartphones to check what kind of monster they got.
Furthermore, there are a lot of unanswered questions that the "Pokémon Go" Plus brings. Those familiar with the franchise knows that there are many types of Pokémon: the common ones, the rare and the ultra-rare.
There are also corresponding items and types of Pokeballs to use on them to get a successful capture. In the case of a rare Pokémon, will the "Pokémon Go" Plus automatically use a Master Ball to capture it? Will the players need to whip out their smartphones instead?
