'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Updates: PokeDates, Dating Site for Pokemon Trainers? Here's What We Know So Far

An App Where Pokemon Trainers Can Date One Another Has Been Made

PokeDates is a dating website specifically created for "Pokemon GO" trainers.

The dating site was created by Project Fixup and launched by Wednesday this week. PokeDates is used to set up a meeting for "Pokemon GO" trainers interested to find partners at Pokemon Gyms and PokeStops.

The PokeDates service matches up two single "Pokemon Go" players based on their answers on the questionnaire for signing up on the site. They must also be playing the AR game as well to qualify.

PokeDates is not for free. Project Fixup is currently having a promotion for the first date with the code "POKEDATES2016." After the first date, those who wish to continue using the service will have to pay $20. The New York Daily News notes that free dates can be earned by referring friends to sign up on the site.

Humans Match "Pokemon GO" Players in PokeDates
Instead of relying on complex algorithm to match the "Pokemon Go" players, Project Fixup reportedly has human employees to do that instead, The Verge reported. Each applicant will be matched based on their similarities and interests regardless of whether they're from the same or opposing teams including Team Valor, Mystic and Instinct. This method of manually matching applicants has already been done in the company's previous dating site called Fixup.

PokeDates Was Thought Up Immediately After "Pokemon GO" Launching

CEO and co-founder of Project Fixup Sarah Press said in a release that the company's service brand is being able to match up people with similar likes and dislikes. The lauching of "Pokemon GO" was perfect for PokeDates as it pools together people with a singularly unifying interest in Pokemon.

How to Sign up for PokeDates

To sign up for PokeDates, a Project Fixup account should be made first. Once that's done, "Pokemon GO" players will have to answer a few questions about themselves in order for Project Fixup employees to match them with other players suitable to be their "PokeMate." Additionally, a schedule will also be needed to be provided to find someone to play against in the popular AR game.

If a match exists, the two potential PokeMates will need to confirm their PokeDate. The first one is free but the succeeding ones will cost $20 unless a successful referral is made. The last part will be to show up for the PokeDate and see if the individuals hit it off and become exclusive "Pokemon Go" partners.
