'Pokemon GO' Latest News & Updates: Will Game's Overwhelming Success Translate to Blockbuster Movie? [RUMORS]

Nintendo's "Pokemon GO" Rumored to Have a Movie Deal

The Pokemon franchise already had a few movies based off from the anime but with "Pokemon GO" will the new movie be just as successful as the AR game?

It has been reported that the "Pokemon GO" movie will not be in 2D animations like the previous ones, but a live action film. Legendary Pictures, the company behind Warcraft, Pacific Rim and the Dark Knight Trilogy are reportedly in talks and in the process of closing the deal to get the rights.

"Pokemon GO" Live Action Movie?
Deadline reported that other companies have been competing to get the "Pokemon GO" movie rights from Japanese company Nintendo. There have been rumors that an overdue "Pokemon" movie was in order and may have been greenlit following the overwhelming success of the AR game.

Legendary Pictures had been previously adamant about getting the "Pokemon" movie rights even before the release of "Pokemon GO." Warner Bros. and Sony were apparently one of the movie companies who sought Nintendo as well, IGN noted.

'Pokemon GO' Movie Cast, Characters, Rumors
There is no official announcement about a "Pokemon GO" movie but there have been rumors about the people that might work in it. The Guardian reported that writer Max Landis (Mr. Right, Victor Frankenstein) is tasked to take on the screenplay. An IMDB page for "Pokemon GO" has been created but there is currently no relevant information in it.

If the movie were to be based off on "Pokemon GO" then there is a great chance that we won't see Ash, Misty, Brock, Gary and Professor Oak come to life. The filming company may create their own new characters and new storyline to go with their plot.

"Pokemon GO" involves traveling or moving place to place to catch Pokemon so the story may be along those lines. Choosing a Pokemon team including: Mystic, Valor and Instinct may be involved in the storyline as well. Additionally, since the movie is a live-action film, the Pokemon may be recreated using CGI and special effects.

Could the potential "Pokemon GO" movie steer to the direction of an action-adventure genre that will star an 11-year old kid just like how old Ash was when he started on his Pokemon journey? Let us know what you think about your theories on the movie in the comments below.
