'Pokémon Go' Update: 'Outdoor Social Cooperative Gameplay' in the Works

Developers looking to innovate further with 'Pokémon Go,' according to Hanke

Many "Pokémon Go" players know that there are still new features that are coming to the game, and developers have also reiterated that this current version of the mobile title is yet subject to changes.

Most recently, it was Niantic CEO John Hanke who offered some insight into what they have in the works currently for the game.

Participating in the Mixed Reality Summit at the London Games Festival, Hanke shared that "outdoor social cooperative gameplay" remains important to them, according to a recent report from Pokémon Go Hub.

Now, "outdoor social cooperative gameplay" could be referring to all kinds of potential "Pokémon Go" additions.

As a recent report from WWG pointed out, Hanke could be talking about Gyms when he brought up the topic of "outdoor social cooperative gameplay." If this is the case then there will likely be many players glad to welcome improvements and possible changes that could be made to these game features.

It is also possible that one of these social features Hanke is hinting at will be trading. Players have been expecting to see this particular feature added for quite a while now, but an exact date for its arrival still cannot be pinned down.

Also, during that London Games Festival appearance, Hanke mentioned that they are not done when it comes to the augmented reality game in terms of taking risks, with the Niantic CEO indicating that they are still looking at more ways to innovate further.

These possible innovations are similarly difficult to identify at this point in time, but players will definitely be looking out for these as well and they may even help re-energize the player base and bring back folks who may have stopped playing regularly already.

Additional details related to what new features could soon make their way to "Pokémon Go" should be made available in the weeks and months ahead.
