'Pokémon Go' News: Shiny Magikarp Still in the Game, But They May Be Even Harder to Find Now

A Shiny Magikarp can be evolved into a Shiny Gyarados inside 'Pokémon Go'

Not too long ago, some very fortunate "Pokémon Go" players discovered and even managed to capture Shiny Magikarp in the game, to the delight of numerous other hopeful trainers.

After that, developers then confirmed that there are indeed Shiny Magikarp in the wild, and even better for players, they are still in the game even though the "Water Festival" event has ended.

Unfortunately, even if these special Pokémon are still in the game, players may still struggle to find them and perhaps even more so now.

Notably, the aforementioned event actually improved players' chances of running into a Shiny Magikarp since the encounter rate for Magikarp was significantly increased for the length of it.

Now that the event is over, it will likely even be tougher to stumble upon a Shiny Magikarp.

Still, for those players who really want to capture a Shiny Magikarp of their own despite the seemingly long odds, they should know a few things.

For example, as an earlier article from Pokémon Go Hub noted, Shiny Magikarp show up on the map just like ordinary Magikarp do, making it even more time-consuming to go after each encounter in the hopes that one of them will yield that coveted rare variant.

Right now, it seems like many "Pokémon Go" players are still waiting for their first Shiny Magikarp encounter. But for those who have managed to not just locate but also capture this hard-to-find creature, there is something else they may want to know.

As developers also revealed on Twitter, a Shiny Magikarp can evolve into a Shiny Gyarados, and that little bit of information may give players even more motivation to track that rare creature down.

More details about the Shiny Pokémon currently inside "Pokémon Go" and the other ones that may still be introduced should be made available in the near future.
