'Pokémon Go' News: The Still-Missing Legendary Birds May Finally Show Up in 2017

Rumors hinting that the Legendary Birds could show up at special 'Pokémon Go' events

There are several kinds of creatures already present inside "Pokémon Go." But even with so many of them available to be captured and trained, players are still looking out for the Pokémon mentioned in legends, the ones known as the Legendary Birds.

For a while, the expectation was that these Legendary Birds – Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos – would be added to the mobile game prior to the arrival of the Gen 2 Pokémon.

However, many of the Gen 2 Pokémon are already live inside the game right now, and yet, the Legendary Birds are still nowhere to be seen.

That may change soon, however, and that may take place as soon as this year.

Niantic CEO John Hanke was recently interviewed by Wired's German division, and he was asked about several features that are not currently live inside the augmented reality game just yet, including the Legendary Birds.

According to a translation of the interview provided by Nintendo Everything, upon being asked about the missing Legendary Birds as well as Mew and Mewtwo, Hanke responded by saying "I can say with certainty that we will see more of that this year."

Hanke being so certain has to be encouraging for "Pokémon Go" players who are hoping that these Legendary Pokémon will be added sooner rather than later, though it is worth noting that even during that interview, the Niantic CEO still did not provide an exact date for when these new creatures may show up.

Rumors have consistently hinted that these special Pokémon will not be introduced in a manner similar to how other creatures were added and that they will instead be featured at events.

Whether that is the plan or not is again something that has remained unconfirmed, but that too should change before this year is up.

More news about the Legendary Birds and when they may be added to "Pokémon Go" should be made available in the near future.
