'Pokémon Go' Eevee Evolution: Alternative Method for Evolving Eevee Into Espeons and Umbreons?

Specific names can influence how Eevees evolve inside 'Pokémon Go'

"Pokémon Go" players looking to add Espeons and Umbreons to their collections may have another way to reliably evolve Eevees into those aforementioned creatures.

Players likely already know about the naming tricks that can yield specific, so-called Eeveelutions.

For the first-gen Eeveelutions, players could name their Eevees as Pyro if they wanted a Flareon, Sparky if they were looking for a Jolteon, and Rainer if what they were seeking was a Vaporeon.

The introduction of more Gen 2 Pokémon added two more names to that list, as players could now name their Eevees as Sakura in order to get an Espeon, while Tamao should be the name of their Eevee if they needed to add an Umbreon to their collection.

For the most part, these naming tricks have looked fairly reliable, but some players have previously indicated that they don't always work for them.

If for whatever reason, those newer naming tricks are not working, "Pokémon Go" players may still have another way to make sure that they can add either an Espeon or Umbreon to the Pokémon they currently own.

Over on r/TheSilphRoad Subreddit, fans have been talking about a possible new method that can be used in order to obtain Espeons and Umbreons inside the game.

Apparently, this alternative method for securing the Gen 2 Eeveelutions involves players walking more than 10 km with an Eevee as their designated Buddy Pokémon.

Once players have walked more than 10 km with their Eevee, they can now evolve it, and if they choose to do so during the day then they may get an Espeon, while doing this at night will apparently produce an Umbreon.

Several "Pokémon Go" players have already noted that this alternative method for getting Espeons and Umbreons has worked for them, so it may be worth a try for those who still don't have the Gen 2 Eeveelutions at this point.
