'Pokémon GO' Update Problems 2017: Players Experience Loading Errors, Numerous Glitches

A lot of "Pokémon GO" players aren't too happy with the latest update released for the augmented reality game due to numerous issues and bugs that have popped up since its arrival.

Game developer Niantic released update version 0.59.1 for Android and update version 1.29.1 for iOS on March 21. According to the release notes, the seven-day "First PokéStop of the Day" streak will now award a random Evolution item. The update also brings in minor text fixes.

Though the update appears to have introduced minor changes, its arrival seems to have brought on several problems for some of the most ardent "Pokémon GO" players.

On Reddit, a lot of players have been complaining about having a hard time playing the game since the update. Some experience loading errors and cannot even open the game while some have to spend five to 10 minutes continuously restarting the game just for it to load properly. Moreover, there's currently no solution to this problem so players will just have to continue restarting the "Pokémon GO" app if they want to continue playing.

There are also players who have complained about lagging and crashing. As a result, they miss chances to catch rare Pokémon when the game suddenly becomes unresponsive and restarting the app would take a long time. Gyms and PokéStops are also said to be buggy so some players are avoiding these areas until the issues have been resolved.

Other problems reported by players include Incense and Lures not working properly, the global positioning system (GPS) not delivering accurate information, and Pokémon appearing on the map like data clusters.

Due to the onslaught of these problems, players are requesting Niantic to first focus on fixing these issues rather than introducing new features.

Niantic, for its part, has acknowledged the issues that players have been experiencing and are working hard to resolve them However, the game developer has not announced a release date for the next update.

"Pokémon GO" is available for iOS and Android devices.
