Only two months remain before the highly-anticipated remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were first announced by Nintendo on May 7, 2014 on the official Pokemon website. The remakes are expected to be released globally on Nov. 21.

Three days after the announcement, footage of the Hoenn region flagship Pokemon were shown. In the footage, Groudon and Kyogre show off their respective manipulative abilities.

A month after the announcement, it was revealed that Groudon and Kyogre could undergo Primal Reversions becoming Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

Subsequent official updates showed that the game will be retaining the original protagonists of the game, Brendan and May with an updated wardrobe. Various gym leaders were also officially unveiled with their own make-overs as well as the return of the region's Pokemon Champion Steven Stone.

In Pokemon X & Y, the final evolution of one of the Hoenn region's starting Pokemon, Blaziken got a Mega Evolution. In the ORAS updates, the other two starting Pokemon were given final Mega Evolutions; Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile. Other Pokemon that were given mega evolutions were Sableye, Diancie, and Metagross.

Currently unconfirmed for mega evolutions are Latis, Latios, and possibly Camerupt and Sharpedo.
