'Pokémon Sun and Moon': Concept Art for Pokémon and Ultra Beasts Released
"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" have been introducing new Pokémon that are a bit on the strange side, but the concept art samples from "The Official Alola Region Collector's Edition Pokédex" art book shows some of the most bizarre Pokémon to date.
The concept art features some of the game's Pokémon, some of them called "Ultra Beasts," have been released in a companion book called the "Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon: The Official Alola Region Collector's Edition Pokédex & Postgame Adventure Guide" that went on sale on Amazon a few days ago. Since then, pictures of the Pokémon concept art, including those of the mysterious and somewhat creepy Ultra Beasts have been popping up on image-sharing sites and on Reddit.
These strange and weird Ultra Beasts are not the usual Pokémon that can be caught and trained by normal means available to trainers, according to Polygon. That being said, it is not even clear if these unusual creatures are Pokémon at all — they could be something else entirely, according to a leak featured by Polygon in another write-up.

The images from the concept art book for the Alola Region gives a good look at these Ultra Beast from all angles, including some views that may not even be presented to the players in the game. Interestingly enough, all the Ultra Beast look vaguely humanoid, unlike the usual Pokémon which in most cases are based on animals, plants or objects.
From the first Ultra Beast, the concept art really highlights how bizarre and otherworldly the designs are for these monsters. The names just add to the creepy vibe of the new entries — take Nihilego for instance. The monster looks like a jellyfish at first glance, but a few poses make it seem to be a woman wearing a frilly hat and wearing a skirt. It's almost pretty to look at, until the pose in which it looks to be trying to ingest a paralyzed Pikachu.
